Technology advances at a rapid pace, and when a new technology catches on the debut will be quite expensive. When Dell releases the first multi-touch screen a couple of years ago, it was interesting technology but the price prevented any real serious look at the functionality of the computer. The HP TouchSmart tx2z series offers that same multi-touch technology, but at a price point that is more appealing to students and casual laptop users. HP may be on to something with the HP TouchSmart tx2z series, and the more they gear the new technology towards the retail consumer the more they will find success with their new releases.

The Dell multi-touch screen laptop was a technological breakthrough that was heralded by many of the science and computer magazines as the next wave of computer technology. The idea is not new as the concept of multi-touch screens was introduced to the consumer by Apple on the iPhone previously, but up until recently that technology did not find its way on to laptop computers. Dell dared to invest in the multi-touch screen technology for laptops and put out a unit that topped out at over $2,000. It has its following, but the HP TouchSmart tx2z series threatens to take that following away.
